Ⅰ.Suzhou Statistical Yearbook 2018 is a publication which provides comprehensive and systematic data covering the economic and social development in Suzhou Municipality in 2017.

Ⅱ.This yearbook is comprised of 22 parts including Achievement Graphs and Charts, General Survey, Population and Labor Force, Agriculture, Industry, Construction, Transportation, Post and Telecommunication, Wholesale, Retail Sales and Catering Business, Export-Oriented Economy and International Tourism, Services, Consumption of Energy, Investment in Fixed Assets, Enterprises Survey, Finance, Banking and Insurance, Price Indices, People’s Livelihood, Science and Technology, Education and Culture, Public Health and Sports, Civil Administration, Judiciary and Other Items, Urban Construction and Environmental Protection, Cities Compare.

Ⅲ. The statistics in the yearbook are mainly the statistics in 2017, and the main indicators also list the statistical data in the key years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The data mainly comes from the periodic statistical reports and sample survey data of Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics and Suzhou Investigation Team of National Bureau of Statistics, and some of the information comes from administrative departments of Suzhou municipal government.

Ⅳ. According to the changes of the national statistical system, some historical data is adjusted accordingly, and in the use of historical data, when the data in previous yearbooks is different from that in this yearbook, the data in this yearbook is to be used.

Ⅴ. In September, 2012 Wujiang City was changed into Wujiang District, and the original Changlang District、Pingjiang Dictrict and Jinchang District were merged to become Gusu District. The whole city’s data in the yearbook includes the data of Gusu District, Wuzhong District, Xiangcheng District, Huqiu District、 Suzhou New District, Suzhou Industrial Park, Wujiang District, Changshu City, Zhangjiagang City, Kunshan City and Taicang city, and the data of the central city includes that of Wujiang District (except the data of meteorology, hydrology and price).

I．China Population and Employment Statistics Yearbook 2018 is an annual statistical publication, which contains data on basic condition of population and employment in 2017 as well as for the previous years for the whole nation and 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. It also includes the relevant data of some other countries and territories in the world.

II．The yearbook is compiled by the Department of Population and Employment Statistics of the National Bureau of Statistics of China, and assisted by the Public Order Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China and the Department of Planning and Information of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China.

III．The yearbook contains the following eight chapters: 1.General Survey; 2.Data from 2017 Sample Survey on Population Changes; 3.Main Data from 2017 Labor Force Survey; 4. Data from Statistics on Employment in Urban Units in 2017; 5.Data from Household Registration in 2017; 6.Data from Family Planning Statistics in 2017; 7.Population and Employment Data of Selected Countries and Territories of the World; 8.Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators.

IV．The reference time of 2017 Sample Survey on Population Changes was at zero hour on November 1 in 2017. The sample survey adopted multi-stage systematic PPES cluster sampling scheme，taking the whole nation as the population and each province, autonomous region or municipality as sub-population. A total of 1.15 million people were selected from 5035 survey districts in 4645 townships (towns or street committees) in 2194 counties (cities or districts) of the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. The weighted estimation procedure suggested that the birth rate was 12.43 per thousand，the death rate was 7.11 per thousand and the natural growth rate was 5.32 per thousand for China in 2017. Based on these rates, it was further estimated that China had a total population of 1,390.08 million at the end of 2017, with 17.23 million births, 9.86 million deaths and a net increase of 7.37 million people during the year. Except table 2-1 and table 2-2, the rest of tabulations in Chapter Two were sample data. The sampling fraction for the nation was 0.824 per thousand.

V．The population data of Chapter Two in the yearbook are from 2017 National Sample Survey on Population Changes, and those of Chapter Five are from the household registration, which use different definitions and data collection methods. Users should notice that the data under the same or similar heading in these two chapters may be different.

VI．The national data in the yearbook do not include that of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province.

VII．Notations used in the yearbook:

. The yearbook is based on data of 2017. Each part includes statistical materials for historically important years, especially from 1978. Since then we have been implementing the reform and opening policy.

.The Hancheng city has established the city specifically designated in the province plan in 2012. So, the main index by city(district) has added the data of Hancheng city in the yearbook.

.The rough data of the nation and other provinces are taken from China Statistical Abstract-2018. The official data should refer to China Statistical Yearbook-2018 later.

IV. In Shandong Statistical Yearbook, statistical definitions, statistical coverage, statistical methods and prices are adjusted according to

the current state statistical standards, and all changes have been noted at the end of the table or in the explanatory notes. Data in value

terms are calculated at current prices if there are no notes. Statistical discrepancies on totals and relative figures due to rounding are

not adjusted.

I. Gansu Development Yearbook, edited by the Gansu development yearbook editorial board and published by china statistics press, is a large-scale domestic and international public offering comprehensive annual publication. It records comprehensively Gansu economic and social development situation by the large amount of reliable data, and is an important tool to understand the situation of the province, city, county and conduct a scientific decision-making, consult and research for every level party and government leaders, economic management department, enterprise and public institution, research departments and domestic and foreign investors.

For the convenience of using information for the readers, statistics have a brief introduction at the beginning of each part. In addition, explanatory notes on main statistical indicators are provided at the end of each part.

IV. The yearbook style is divided into contents, subhead and entry three levels, and entry as the basic structural unit. The entry titles are in bold and add【】.

V. In comparison with Gansu Development Yearbook-2017, following amendments were mainly made in content of this yearbook: In the first part, of the chapter “General Situation of Prefectures & Counties and Lanzhou New Area”, delete the content of counties, renamed as “Region and Lanzhou New Area Overview”, Increased “Traffic and Communications” content. In the second part, the chapter of “Agriculture” and “National Accounts” are adjusted the historical year data of relevant indicators according to the results of Third Agricultural Census; of the chapter “General Survey”, delete the table of “Average Daily Social and Economic Activities in Gansu”; of the chapter “Agriculture”, delete the indicator of “Cultivated Area”; of the chapter “Education & Science and Technology”, delete the indicator of “Dropout rate”.

VI. As the methods of statistical system reform, some of the caliber of statistical indicators, including the scope and computational method change and please note that when used. The presentation data is provided by the units and some are preliminary statistics, if they does not accord with the statistical tables to tables shall prevail.

VII. Please refer to the newly published version of the Yearbook for updated historical data. The units of measurement used in this yearbook are internationally standard measurement units, statistical discrepancies on totals and relative figures due to rounding are not adjusted in the Yearbook.

Tianjin Statistical Yearbook 2018 takes Tianjin economic and social statistics of 2017 systematically, and other statistics of main years. The book is written in Chinese & English, and is equipped with electric CD.

II. Written materials in the book include Statistical Communique on the 2017 National Economic and Social Development of Tianjin, Analysis of Tianjin Economic Situation 2017. In order to help readers using these statistical materials better, Subject Index is used to describe the framework of the book, and Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators are attached after each chapter.
