China Statistical Yearbook on Science and Technology-2018 is prepared jointly by the Department of Social, Science and Technology, and Cultural Statistics National Bureau of Statistics and the Department of Strategy and Planning of Science and Technology. The Yearbook, which covers data series at the national, provincial and local levels, and autonomous regions, as well as departments directly under the State Council, reports on the development of China’s science and technology activities.

The yearbook contains the following nine parts. The first part reflects general science and technology(S&T) information on whole society; The second part, the third part and the forth part reflect respectively S&T information about Industrial Enterprises, Independent Research Institutions and Institutions of Higher Education. Industrial Enterprises cover Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size, with the sales revenue above 20 million RMB；Independent Research Institutions cover the municipal and above and independent accounting scientific research and technological development institutions which belong to government；Institutions of Higher Education cover Institutions of Higher Education and affiliated hospitals. The fifth part contains information on High Technology Industry. The sixth part contains information on innovation activities of enterprises. The seventh part contains information on National Program for Science and Technology. The eighth part contains information on results of S&T activities. The ninth part covers Scientific and Technologic Service and S&T activities of China Associations for S&T. The tenth part contains information on the international comparisons.

Ⅰ. Guangzhou Statistical Yearbook 2018(abbreviation as the Yearbook below)is an annual statistics publication，reflecting comprehensively the economic and social development of Guangzhou．It covers maily statistics in 2017 and some selected major data series in historically important years，at municipal level and local level of district．

Ⅱ. The Yearbook contains the following 18 chapters：1． Gerneral Survey；2． Population；3． Employment and Wages；4． Investment in Fixed Assets；5． Energy and Environment；6． Government Finance and Banking；7． Price Indices；8． People’s Livelihood；9． City Construction；10． Agriculture；11． Industry；12． Construction；13． Transport，Postal and Telecommunication Services；14． Domestic Trade；15． Foreign Economy and Tourism；16． Service Industry above Scale；17． Science and Technology；18． Education，Culture，Sports，Public Health，Social Welfare and Others．The data listed in the Appendix are main economic indicators of China，Guangdong province，Hongkong Special Administrative Region and Macao Administrative Region．

Ⅲ. The data in the Yearbook are mainly obtained from regular ststistical reports and sample surveys conducted by statistics bureaus of all levels of government and the Surney office of the National Bureau of statistics in Guangzhou．Some data are collected from the departments of the provincial and municipal government．

Ⅳ. Since 2014 Guangzhou administrative division has been adjusted. The original Huangpu and Luogang districts have been merged into the new Huangpu district. The original Zengcheng county-level city has been renamed Zengcheng district, the original Conghua county-level city has been renamed Conghua district. Since 2015, Guangzhou city administrative division has included 11 districts, which are Liwan district, Yuexiu district, Haizhu district, Tianhe district, Baiyun district, Huangpu district, Panyu district, Huadu district, Nansha district, Conghua district and Zengcheng district, excluding county-level cities.

Ⅴ. From 2014 urban and rural integrated household survey is carried out in Guangzhou, statistical indicator system of urban and rural integrated household survey is changed greatly.

Ⅵ. According to the notice of the National Bureau of Statistics on the implementation of the new national standard of national economic industry classification (2017) 142, the new national economic industry classification has been used from the statistical annual report of 2017 and the periodic statistical report of 2018. In this data, all the tables related to sub-industries (except the data provided by individual departments are classified according to the old industry, as indicated in the table), are adjusted according to the new industry classification & GB/T4754-2017 of national economy.

Ⅶ. Starting from 2018, a new chapter entitled “Service Industry above scale” has been added.

Ⅷ. The prices used in calculation in the Yearbook are current prices except noted．

Ⅸ. In any case the data of this book shall be deemed as the authoritative ones．

Ⅹ. In the Yearbook all caculating errors of some total and regular figures for the differency of measuring units haven’t been adjusted.

Ⅺ. Notations in this book：blank space indicates data are not available；“…” indicates not large enough to be rounded into the least unit of measurement；“#”indicates major item in a category.

Ⅰ.Suzhou Statistical Yearbook 2018 is a publication which provides comprehensive and systematic data covering the economic and social development in Suzhou Municipality in 2017.

Ⅱ.This yearbook is comprised of 22 parts including Achievement Graphs and Charts, General Survey, Population and Labor Force, Agriculture, Industry, Construction, Transportation, Post and Telecommunication, Wholesale, Retail Sales and Catering Business, Export-Oriented Economy and International Tourism, Services, Consumption of Energy, Investment in Fixed Assets, Enterprises Survey, Finance, Banking and Insurance, Price Indices, People’s Livelihood, Science and Technology, Education and Culture, Public Health and Sports, Civil Administration, Judiciary and Other Items, Urban Construction and Environmental Protection, Cities Compare.

Ⅲ. The statistics in the yearbook are mainly the statistics in 2017, and the main indicators also list the statistical data in the key years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The data mainly comes from the periodic statistical reports and sample survey data of Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics and Suzhou Investigation Team of National Bureau of Statistics, and some of the information comes from administrative departments of Suzhou municipal government.

Ⅳ. According to the changes of the national statistical system, some historical data is adjusted accordingly, and in the use of historical data, when the data in previous yearbooks is different from that in this yearbook, the data in this yearbook is to be used.

Ⅴ. In September, 2012 Wujiang City was changed into Wujiang District, and the original Changlang District、Pingjiang Dictrict and Jinchang District were merged to become Gusu District. The whole city’s data in the yearbook includes the data of Gusu District, Wuzhong District, Xiangcheng District, Huqiu District、 Suzhou New District, Suzhou Industrial Park, Wujiang District, Changshu City, Zhangjiagang City, Kunshan City and Taicang city, and the data of the central city includes that of Wujiang District (except the data of meteorology, hydrology and price).

I．China Population and Employment Statistics Yearbook 2018 is an annual statistical publication, which contains data on basic condition of population and employment in 2017 as well as for the previous years for the whole nation and 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. It also includes the relevant data of some other countries and territories in the world.

II．The yearbook is compiled by the Department of Population and Employment Statistics of the National Bureau of Statistics of China, and assisted by the Public Order Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China and the Department of Planning and Information of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China.

III．The yearbook contains the following eight chapters: 1.General Survey; 2.Data from 2017 Sample Survey on Population Changes; 3.Main Data from 2017 Labor Force Survey; 4. Data from Statistics on Employment in Urban Units in 2017; 5.Data from Household Registration in 2017; 6.Data from Family Planning Statistics in 2017; 7.Population and Employment Data of Selected Countries and Territories of the World; 8.Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators.

IV．The reference time of 2017 Sample Survey on Population Changes was at zero hour on November 1 in 2017. The sample survey adopted multi-stage systematic PPES cluster sampling scheme，taking the whole nation as the population and each province, autonomous region or municipality as sub-population. A total of 1.15 million people were selected from 5035 survey districts in 4645 townships (towns or street committees) in 2194 counties (cities or districts) of the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. The weighted estimation procedure suggested that the birth rate was 12.43 per thousand，the death rate was 7.11 per thousand and the natural growth rate was 5.32 per thousand for China in 2017. Based on these rates, it was further estimated that China had a total population of 1,390.08 million at the end of 2017, with 17.23 million births, 9.86 million deaths and a net increase of 7.37 million people during the year. Except table 2-1 and table 2-2, the rest of tabulations in Chapter Two were sample data. The sampling fraction for the nation was 0.824 per thousand.

V．The population data of Chapter Two in the yearbook are from 2017 National Sample Survey on Population Changes, and those of Chapter Five are from the household registration, which use different definitions and data collection methods. Users should notice that the data under the same or similar heading in these two chapters may be different.

VI．The national data in the yearbook do not include that of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province.

VII．Notations used in the yearbook:

.The Hancheng city has established the city specifically designated in the province plan in 2012. So, the main index by city(district) has added the data of Hancheng city in the yearbook.

.The rough data of the nation and other provinces are taken from China Statistical Abstract-2018. The official data should refer to China Statistical Yearbook-2018 later.

Appendix contains the main economic indicators of some other provinces (municipality), international statistics and Events of Shandong

III. Data used in Government Work Report and Shandong Statistics Communiqué are preliminary statistics. data in other chapters is official

annual data. Data in Shandong Statistical Yearbook are all verified and should be based on this standard.

IV. In Shandong Statistical Yearbook, statistical definitions, statistical coverage, statistical methods and prices are adjusted according to

the current state statistical standards, and all changes have been noted at the end of the table or in the explanatory notes. Data in value

terms are calculated at current prices if there are no notes. Statistical discrepancies on totals and relative figures due to rounding are

not adjusted.

V. After this yearbook was published, it has received lots of concerns and support from readers whom we should thank. Because of our ability,

I. Gansu Development Yearbook, edited by the Gansu development yearbook editorial board and published by china statistics press, is a large-scale domestic and international public offering comprehensive annual publication. It records comprehensively Gansu economic and social development situation by the large amount of reliable data, and is an important tool to understand the situation of the province, city, county and conduct a scientific decision-making, consult and research for every level party and government leaders, economic management department, enterprise and public institution, research departments and domestic and foreign investors.

II. The yearbook is the ninth volume since founded, which is all the in Chinese-English and equipped with electronic version, records mainly Gansu economic and social development situation in 2017, but its statistics materials have traced back in time.

The second part contains total 23 sections and chapters: General Survey; Population; National Accounts; Employment and Wages; Prices; People’s Living Conditions; Government Finance and Financial Intermediation; Resources and Environment; Energy; Investment in Fixed Assets; Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation; Agriculture; Industry; Construction; Wholesale and Retail Trades; Hotels, Catering Services and Tourism; Transport, Postal and Telecommunication Services; Education & Science and Technology; Public Health, Social Services and Social Security; Culture and Sports; City; Ethnic Minority Autonomous Area; Lanzhou New Area. For the convenience of using information for the readers, statistics have a brief introduction at the beginning of each part. In addition, explanatory notes on main statistical indicators are provided at the end of each part.

IV. The yearbook style is divided into contents, subhead and entry three levels, and entry as the basic structural unit. The entry titles are in bold and add【】.

V. In comparison with Gansu Development Yearbook-2017, following amendments were mainly made in content of this yearbook: In the first part, of the chapter “General Situation of Prefectures & Counties and Lanzhou New Area”, delete the content of counties, renamed as “Region and Lanzhou New Area Overview”, Increased “Traffic and Communications” content. In the second part, the chapter of “Agriculture” and “National Accounts” are adjusted the historical year data of relevant indicators according to the results of Third Agricultural Census; of the chapter “General Survey”, delete the table of “Average Daily Social and Economic Activities in Gansu”; of the chapter “Agriculture”, delete the indicator of “Cultivated Area”; of the chapter “Education & Science and Technology”, delete the indicator of “Dropout rate”.

VI. As the methods of statistical system reform, some of the caliber of statistical indicators, including the scope and computational method change and please note that when used. The presentation data is provided by the units and some are preliminary statistics, if they does not accord with the statistical tables to tables shall prevail.

VII. Please refer to the newly published version of the Yearbook for updated historical data. The units of measurement used in this yearbook are internationally standard measurement units, statistical discrepancies on totals and relative figures due to rounding are not adjusted in the Yearbook.

Tianjin Statistical Yearbook is a large-sized statistics publication to reflect various aspects of Tianjin’s economic and social development, which was started in 1984 and published year after year, having formed a series of yearbooks. Tianjin Statistical Yearbook 2018 takes Tianjin economic and social statistics of 2017 systematically, and other statistics of main years. The book is written in Chinese & English, and is equipped with electric CD.

III. The major data sources of this book are obtained from annual professional statistical report, a few from sample surveys and departments’ statistics.

IV. The units of measurement used in this book are internationally stander measurement units; sector listed in this table is classified by the standard of GB/T 4754-2011. When calculating per capital indicators, we use permanent population.

V. Statistical discrepancies due to rounding are not adjusted in this book.

VI. Notations used in this book: “blank” indicates the data not available or the figure is not large enough to be measured with the smallest unit in the table. “#’ indicates the major items of the total.

As a result of keeping consistent with data of census, surveys and checks, the change of national statistics system and adjustment of figures provided by departments some data in this yearbook is different from former yearbook. When using historical data, users should take the data of this book as standard.
