Ⅲ. Comparedwith Sichuan Statistical Yearbook 2013,this yearbook add “Total Resident Population and its Composition by County(year-end)” in Chapter XII “Survey of County (City, District)”, add “Sown Area and Output of Grain byRegion(2006-2012)” and “Slaughtered Fattened Hogs byRegion(2006-2012)” in Chapter XIII “Agriculture”. Chapter XVIII “Foreign Tradeand Economic Cooperation and International Tourism” have cancelled two tablesincluding “List of Main Foreign-star Hotels” and “List of Main Scenic Spots”.Chapter XX “Education, Science, Technology and Patents” have cancelled table“Projects, Personnel and Funds of Research and Development of Institutions ofHigher Education”, and adjust indicators in the table “Basic Statistics onHuman Resources for Scientific and Technological Activities in Institution ofHigher Education” and enrich the data by region. Chapter XXI “Culture, Sportsand Public Health” have cancelled two tables including “Conditions of Morningand Evening Exercise by Region” and “National Physique Monitoring Station byRegion”. Chapter XXIII “Unit List” have been cancelledin this yearbook.

IV. In this yearbook, data of transport,post and telecommunications, tourism, trade, finance, insurance, education,technology, culture, health, sports, patents, civil, fire, traffic accident,mineral resources provided by the relevant departments.

Ⅰ.Shanxi Statistical Yearbook 2014 is an annual statistics publication, which reflects comprehensively the national economic and social development of Shanxi province. It covers data for 2013 and key statistical data in recent years and some historically important years at the provincial level and the local levels of prefecture and county. To meet the need of international exchange, this yearbook is made in both Chinese and English.

To facility readers, Statistical Charts reflecting total trend are attached at the beginning of each chapter, and Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators, a brief introduction about the meaning, data sources, statistical coverage, statistical methods and historical changes of main statistical indicators, are provided at the end of each chapter.
Ⅲ.Comparing with Shanxi Statistical Yearbook 2013, following revisions have been made in this new version: Chapter structure has been rearranged; The content of housing and real estate are separated from the chapter of Investment in fixed assets and formed a new chapter of Real Estate; According to the statistical system, some indicators have been added and deleted, for example, indicators such as dependency ratio of population, ratio of urban and rural income have been added in the chapter of General Survey; According to urban and rural integration statistical system, the content of urban and rural grouped income have been deleted in the chapter of People’s Livelihood.
Ⅳ.The statistical coverage of indicators in this yearbook is the same as the current national statistical report system. The data in this yearbook are mainly obtained from annual statistical reports, and some are from sample surveys and related departments.
Ⅴ. For the convenience of the readers, brief notes concerning some indicators about their changes in meaning or coverage are given at the lower part of relevant tables. According to international practice, some main indicators need to check and revise regularly by statistical census. In case of some statistical data issued before being inconsistent with this publication, take the data in this publication as correction.
Ⅵ. The units of measurement used in this yearbook are international standard measurement units. Statistical discrepancies due to rounding are not adjusted in this yearbook.
Ⅶ. Notations used in this book: “ (blank) ” indicates that the figure is not large enough to be measured with the smallest unit in the table or is not available; “#”indicates the major items of the total.
